Phase 1: Relief Care – Addressing Pain and Symptoms

Many people seek chiropractic care because they’re in pain—whether it’s from an injury, poor posture, stress, or a chronic condition. At Spring Spine Center, we understand how disruptive pain can be to your daily life, and our first priority in this initial phase of care is to provide fast, effective relief.

During this stage, treatment is focused on reducing inflammation, relieving tension, and restoring joint mobility. Depending on the severity of your condition, this may involve daily visits or two to three sessions per week over a short period of time. The goal is to ease discomfort as quickly as possible while beginning to correct the underlying structural issues that caused the pain.

Pain Is the Tip of the Iceberg

One of the most common misconceptions is that “if I’m not in pain, I must be healthy.” Unfortunately, pain is not always a reliable indicator of overall health. In fact, by the time pain appears, a problem may have already been present—and progressing—for weeks, months, or even years.

Think of it like a tooth cavity. You don’t typically feel pain when a cavity first develops. It only hurts once it has worsened and reached a critical stage. The same is true for many major health conditions:

  • Heart disease often develops silently for years before showing symptoms.

  • Cancer can progress to advanced stages with no noticeable warning signs.

  • Spinal misalignments may not cause immediate discomfort, but can still interfere with nerve function, posture, and joint health over time.

Pain is often the last symptom to appear, and unfortunately, the first to go away during treatment. That’s why eliminating pain is only the beginning of your journey toward true health and healing.

What Happens After the Pain Goes Away?

When symptoms subside, it’s tempting to believe the problem is gone. But in many cases, the root cause still needs attention. Ending care too early can allow the underlying dysfunction to return—or even worsen. That’s why we encourage our patients to continue care beyond the relief phase, moving into corrective and maintenance care that supports long-term stability and wellness.

At Spring Spine Center, we take a whole-body, long-term approach to healing. Your comfort is important—but so is your ability to move, function, and live without limits.
